Are some of you guys seriously trying to tell me that because some graduates earn the same or slightly more than an 'unskilled' worker the unskilled worker should be earning less?? The graduate has done his/her study to get an option that is not usually available to the unskilled worker. A career.
The graduate has a career, the worker has a job. The graduate's pay will increase as they advance their career, the worker...well...for alot of them, that's it. They have essentially realised their maximum earning potential.
Now I'm not saying they can't go and get some skills, a career, I'm just saying people who have jobs should be paid a reasonable wage to do them. The world still needs truck drivers and rubbish collectors and baggage handlers. Give them enough to live on.
I'm sorry, but corporations have forgotten one of the basic lessons of capitalism. The workers control the means of production. Industry and the workforce need each other. It's not some parasitic relationship where one sucks all it can from the other. Mutual prosperity, not expoitation. Surely we don't need revolution to teach us this lesson again.
