The RBA left rates toooooooooo low for way toooooooooo long and created a real estate bubble. Now the RBA will have to drop rates in order to stop it melting this year. There is a reasonable limit to rate drops and if you reach that point the govt and the RBA run out of real options.
How do they fix that? Increase immigration to fill the gap so the cycle goes on. It is a balancing act and a virtual ponzi scheme.
Labors new tax grabs will only weaken the real estate market more and some of that is getting priced in and hence the falls are probably greater than many expected. Oliver from the AMP reckons a total of 25% drop from the high. Over population will continue anyway as neither group of politicians have the balls to alter or slow it down. They have pinned themselves into the corner with all their name calling. The word racist will get abused all over again from minorities wanting their way. The current govt have been more selective about who comes here but Labor will screw the borders up out of spite. Sydney will only get more crowded. You can see Trump wants to sort out immigration, but the idiot Democrats will defy logic and the peoples wills as they do out here.
