Very valid points musky45. This is a market economy and businesses are there to meet consumer demand. Is this service ethical? Well I always feel that if the company is clear and concise about its offering then consumers can decide for themselves. We don't want some paternalistic government intervening and denying consumers choice, or driving economic activity underground (black market).
Also, I'm wondering if FLT are seeking a first mover / competitive advantage over foreign web-based rivals with regard to offering this interest free finance option in Australia. Just food for thought!
