overseas "dental" holiday anyone?

    I'm sure most of us if not all have seen the "disaster" stories reported on the evening television shows where Australians whom have had medical procedures carried out overseas as part of a "holiday" package.

    It would be fair to say that the driving factor behind having such medical procedures performed overseas, in particular in a variety of Asian countries, is the cost difference.

    Perhaps the following is worthy of consideration in terms of having dental prodecures, in particular implants, performed overseas in such an environment;

    My wife was speaking with a dental specialist colleage here in Perth recently he reports seeing at least one patient a fortnight coming to him to have overseas dental work "rectified". One a fortnight!!

    And the worst part for the patient is in order for him to take ownership of the "problem" dental work, he effectively has to start from scratch AT THE PATIENTS EXPENSE.

    So I guess the "cheap" overseas holiday/procedure isn't so cheap for some patients after all???

    Food for thought perhaps
