It's the slowing house sales and increased cost of capital that's hurting CGF, not subprime losses. These factors coupled with that possibility that the underlying equity in houses (which CGF's loans are secured to) may struggle accruing capital gains. If there's no or negative cap gains, the risk of borrower defaults increases massively...
