It's not just the financial cost of recovering the harder to get fossil fuels and include uranium in this, it's the energy consumed. That also increases the total emissions for the end result of energy being supplied and consumed. How much energy is consumed and therefore CO2 produced to build a nuclear power station, mine and refine it's uranium, transport, maintenance, decomissioning, waste disposal etc. I once saw the figures and they were on a par with a natural gas power station for energy produced yet those in favour would claim that no CO2 is produced. I think some of the shale oil might be consuming as much as half the energy being supplied at the pump in the journey to get there?
