Sierra, I too would love to think all our power needs could be satisfied with renewables.
I don't know how likely this is in the foreseeable future.
Mega solar of some sort maybe, the power rains down on us every day.
Meanwhile populations grow strongly, needs and expectations for comfortable lifestyles even moreso and they wont want to wait several generations for power supplies to catch up.
This is where I see nuclear ( and coal) being very attractive to so many.
I wonder if some readers have some figures on what the projected power needs for the world over the next 20/30 years are and what proportion of these can likely be met in that time by renewables etc.?
Q. Given the choice to decide on wether to build 100 coal fired power stations or 100 nuclear power stations, no ifs or buts, one or the other. Which would you choose?
