should is a big word --------- not many humans are good at being situationally aware - most are rather unaware

and that is what I've been arguing for many years
if you go and observe people ----------- just sit and watch - you'll very quicky see that most are not aware of much at all
go find a place that's a little elevated and look down on them --------- first up ---------- very very very very few will see you - then, you see what they do - because they think that no one is looking.
The same can be done from inside a van with windows that you can't see into ------------- if people can't see you - then, as far as they are concerned - you do not exist.
People can be within inches of you - and now know your presence
same same if behind in a car ------------- many just don't know you exist there
