when the sign involves going from one lane to 2 lanes - a passing lane -
the road, because of it's extra width is seen naturally as safer ------------ so, people automatically speed up
it's perfectly natural.
there are also people who speed up to keep level or better when someone pulls beside them -
far more mostly than not - they don't do this intentionally - they do it because it's instinctive
for those who think that most do it intentionally - well, that's wrong - the kinds of people who do this action - are not aware enough of their situation to be able to intentionally change speed --------------- mostly they would be oblivious to someone coming from behind
