This link gives an insight into the short position in the US.
I think some of the yanks that are short may not have done their DD and don't realise that there is really only 9 Million shares in the free float(if you disregard those held by intitutions) and with 6 Million shares short there, it could be argued that they are effectively short 66% of the free float. IMO that situation is not sustainable and as the article says"things could get interesting".
