All very interesting analysis, but if the FDA was to decide on this basis, then this would be one of those small number of instances where Trump is right and the FDA is wrong.
A simpler way of assessing would be to multiply the improvement in mortality by 1000 patients a day and if they won't all fit in a car then it's worth approving... Arguing based on statistics that a say 11% (absolute) reduction in mortality is significant whilst a 9% reduction is not, is puerile.
The FDA (unless you want to blame CTSN) have already managed to kill 10,000's of people by delaying things this long. 100,000 plus people dead (so at least 300,000 ICU patients) since the 1st of May and we have apparently struggled to enroll 1 in a 1000 of them...)
