Hi Christem and others. To be quite honest I don't know why they didn't go contract mining from day 1.
Puss in Boots hits the nail on the head with his observations. you restrict RES management staff to statutory requirements. A GM with a ticket, safety engineer, etc, maybe 6 or 7 people on owners team. As you say turn it on and off as the market dictates, (although there will be contractual issues) even use good old Force majeure.
The contract mining market is so hammered here that you will get good rates and easier to manage contracts. The T&C wont be as onerous.
Costs you more per ton to mine but the Capex is reduced to site establishment ie give him a hard standing and pay his low bed costs.
I also agree with the others that this is clutching at straws since it should have been investigated earlier.
