    "Australians have no LEGAL right to free speech. It is just assumed."

    Our right to free speech is based on Common Law which can be changed by politicians via legislation.

    It was too difficult for a government to change the Constitution to insert such a right, from memory, the Whitlam government tried to compensate that by a Bill of Rights legislation but it filed in the parliament.
