I understand what you are saying and you make some valid points. I think there are some good buys around that could be picked up if they are strategic.

I think a share consolidation may be an alternative to dividends especially for longer term holders for tax reasons.

I don't like the idea of having as a strategy "closing mines". It should be a last resort although not taken at the last possible moment. Recent experience shows both the decision m aking and actual process of closing mines is difficult.
