Upcoming App Will Allow Customers to Trace & Verify Food Products

Australian food investment firm Beston Global Food Company, is taking the reins producing what is being called “a world first in combining multi-layered covert IR (infrared) and UV (ultraviolet) technology with ‘track & trace’ software technology,” providing traceability and verification of its food products to the consumer. 1

The OZIRIS app will allow customers worldwide to simply scan the QR code on the product’s BRANDLOK seal by using their smartphone or tablet and receive verification of the product’s authenticity along with its nutritional information. 2

The app, which will be released early of next year, comes at a time when shippers are gearing up to comply with significant food safety standards that go into effect next fall. The Food Safety Modernization Act would affect shippers, receivers, and trucking companies. Carriers will need to make sure their equipment is sanitary and “adequately cleanable” and any operations (such as inspection, maintenance, loading/unloading) be “conducted ‘under such conditions and controls necessary’ to prevent the food from becoming filthy, putrid, decomposed, or otherwise unfit for food or rendered injurious to health.” 3 Carriers would also need to keep records about prior shipments, temperature control, cleaning, and training for a 12-month period. 3

According to BGFC Executive Chairman Dr Roger Sexton, “Food product counterfeiting worldwide is currently worth an estimated $1.7 trillion. The World Health Organization earlier this year issued a warning that unsafe food is a growing global threat. It stated that food production and distribution has become more industrialized in response to rising demand, and its trade and distribution has become more globalised, which has introduced multiple opportunities for food to become contaminated with harmful bacteria, viruses, parasites or chemicals.” 2

Road Scholar Transport helps protect your freight from theft and safety concerns during transport by providing:
*Aluminum floor trailers, which can help prevent contamination built up on wooden flooring over time, creating a more sanitary environment for your products.
*We conduct regular sweeps on all trailers to ensure that your freight is being transported in a clean, and therefore safe, environment.
*We have record of what was inside the trailer before your freight, before that, within the last month, and so on, as well as what has been transported since the last time the trailer was cleaned.
*We employ reefer tracking with the ability to adjust the trailer’s temperature remotely from our headquarters, complete with unlimited user-defined temperature alerts as well as displaying the history of the temperature inside the trailer (even months after delivery) to ensure that your freight was transported under the proper conditions.
*Electronic Door Monitoring:  Displays the time of every door opening/closure, alerting of any suspicious activity.
*Up to the minute tracking and multi-dimensional asset tracking (tractor, trailer, and communication device)
*Geo-Fencing capability (route or facility specific)
