at your suggestion I've had a brief look into OZL's 'new' management team. Terry Burgess was at Angol American when its performance was regarded with a great deal of 'indifference' which led to the takeover from Xstrata (I think). Anglo American has been one of those companies with a lot of potential/great assets but which never seemed to perform. From my understanding it has only been the appointment of Cynthia Carroll that things have started to turn around.
As for the appointment of Neil Hamilton, he may be a very experienced lawyer who is very good at generating billable hours, probably has a nice winery which will never make a profit etc, but what value does he bring to a company like SFR or OZL? Has he run a mine? Has be done the hard yards as an investor or entrepeneur? or is he just very good at hiring 'consultants' to make to make very poor financial decisios on his behalf?
