Yes Mr Bond, I agree!! The commercial motivations arising from the competition posed by other industries that need access to the lucrative resources is, in my opinion, the reason that the QLD government is being discriminatory. Thank you for telling it like you see it. I just needed to repeat that phrase for people who may be new...or those who need it spelt out.

One other point I'd like to make while I'm thinking out aloud here- the potential for UCG for power generation in conjunction with carbon capture and storage has been forgotten in QLD as will the gov'ts failure to develop Zero Gen or some concept of the CC and S technology. Politicians and the media painted UCG and in particular Cougar Energy's trial with the words 'toxic', 'poison', and the phrase 'cancer causing chemicals'. Honey...just need to fill-up with some diesel in the 4WD...just going down to the petrol station. Oooops - nearly forgot....better put on my gloves and protective suit and gas mask so I can avoid the 'toxic', 'poison', 'cancer causing chemicals'!!!

The reporting on Cougar's Kingaroy plant reminded me of every other lazy piece of reporting and news broadcasting, where a mouthpiece or presenter simply reads verbatim what comes off the AAP newswire. You switch channels and you hear the same paragraph and the same story told without any research or any questioning as to the evidence. In the old days you'd drive from one end of the state to other and flick through the various regional radio stations...I'd here every announcer read the weather in exactly the same way, and they were reading the old teletext -word for word as it had been written by the weather bureau. Reporters around the country gobbled up the words spoken by DERM and the locals of Kingaroy including QLD politicians, and they spat out each phrase - word for word - 'toxic', 'poison', and the phrase 'cancer causing chemicals'.

I read somewhere that you can do CSG and then years later perhaps UCG on the same coal seam, but it can't work the other way around...Maybe the resources industry has already decided that coal will be developed underground if economically feasible, and secondly developed for CSG before ultimately being utilised for UCG.
