There is a lot of stuff out there investigating the relationship between autophagy and aging. Mostly relating to fasting, but MPL also induces autophagy. [With very few side effects] The Noble Prize for medicine in 2016 went to a Japanese researcher for his work in this field. It's interesting and worth reading, but lets concentrate on ALS, then someone can explore further down the track.
