With an out of date USE by date I would call up the health department. Use by dates are not negotiable...from my understanding. And any decent establishment puts products that are approaching a best/use by date on sale before the fact. Why do you think chips are constantly on sale at the majors...not anywhere near stale but they are not fresh stock as they're usually within 2/3 months of the BEST before date.

And for the last 2 years Easter chocolates are definitely NOT a fresh product...Easter in April and best before dates were all for June 2012...definitely last years stock...high 'preservative value' goods laden with sugar are not produced for a few months life span.

On a side note...if you want fresh products without the games...go to a Reject shop...the products are a fraction of the price at majors...some are for the overseas market but they are genuine brand name products. For example...Nescafe 200gr jar(for the wife...I only drink freshly ground espresso) $5...Cussons 500ml shower body(Made in UK) $3...and on the list goes.
