It's a general statement.
It's basically like if you were to say - "The sky is blue" I could then reply with "Blind Freddy knew that".
Generally saying that you are stating the obvious.
Random extra information - but check out the song "You weren't in love with me" if you want to hear some constant references that even blind freddy could see, you weren't in love with me etc etc (not a bad song either!).
