Supergene gold enrichment is an oxidation process where gold is mobilised by groundwater from the primary gold lode (see below), Supergene enrichment is of major commercial significance as it can produce spectacular grades of gold. Rox and other geos are interested in Paddy's Lode because it has the two conditions needed for supergene enrichment, sulphide ore and permeability to permit percolation of the mineralised solution.. The transition oxidation zone at Paddy's Lode could produce grades that are even higher than the 34.8 g/T intersected in the first drill hole.
