Mac would not have been planning something like this for just the last 6 months, they would have had people looking at CTP working over various strategies from the very first loan years ago. They are a beast of company and do not do things by halves. Why do you think they are known as the millionaire factory, it is not because of flippant short term planning.
I would not be surprised that they have been shorting and bot trading the price down to allow them to get into the right position as if it is a game of chess they are playing. It is just like strategy in battle, if you know anything about Sun Tzu's Art of War you would understand we have most likely been kept comfortably off balance (paraphrasing 2 strategies), never feeling really threatened but never really able to take a firm footing and succeed/win, then we get hit by what is a precision ambush, devastating to us but little effort for the enemy.
