Nylex installs SAP WMS to drive growth Tuesday 22 November 2005 Nylex Consumer Products has implemented a new Warehouse Management System (WMS) at their Somerton warehouse and distribution facility in Melbourne. The NYLEX and AJAX Fasteners businesses consolidated at the facility in 2004 and were looking to implement a new WMS — to drive significant business benefits, and drive growth.
By doing so, they expected to achieve a greater level of inventory accuracy, visibility and the derived benefits by doing so.
The shortlist of products were down to two solutions, a third party WMS system and SAP's WMS.
As Nylex were already using SAP, they saw significant value in a fully integrated SAP platform achieved by using SAP WM and introducing SAP console (SAP's inherent Radio Frequency solution available in version 4.6c currently used by NYLEX).
Consulting Principles was chosen as the SAP partner of choice with the best track record and body of work in the SAP logistics execution space.
Anthony Dickens, General Manager of Nylex committed to go forward with the project in August.
"We commenced the project almost immediately, given the busy Christmas trading period was about to commence," he says. "The project just went live mid November 2005, on time and on budget."
Consulting Principles says it took some time to prove to the business that the SAP WMS solution would provide all of the functionality required.
