For those in ivory towers, probably worth remembering that not everyone can pay their bills, let alone have discretionary savings to play around on the stock market. For many parents deciding whether to take your child to the doctor isn't so straightforward, if it means taking food off the table.

Not sure how many parents are actually here, although many aren't hopeless messes as soon as their kid gets a sniffle. For the most part, kids are pretty resilient and most days of the year they don't need medicating.

As for day care centres, most won't administer pain medications without a doctors prescription and will often require the child to be picked up anyway.

So while all the parents will lap this up stuff makes for nice platitudes. The reality is going to be much more nuanced.
