Couple of things about the NRS and APS.

1. They are using them as two separate measurements. If someone is unable to report their pain, they will not use the NRS at all - just the APS (video + 5 other APS domains). If someone can report their pain, the data will be input as per the NRS without the need to do any part of the APS - its a number system "what's your pain out of 10" *inputs number into PainChek* - speaking with some nurses, people who can alter between both states may have both assessments done SEPARATELY (but at the same time of course).

2. The detection potential for pain which is where the video AI is the most powerful, picking up microexpressions, is not aimed at saying "look into this camera so we can identify your pain". Current AI that looks for mood, motion etc does not give people a warning before assessing or using the information the AI has collected. Good thing is, this video does not rely on the APS in order to work in detecting pain, it is the pain score that requires the 5 other domains.
