:A study by researchers at the University of Washington School of Medicine revealed in July that global dementia cases are set to nearly triple by 2050, from 57.4million to 152.8. In Western Europe, cases are expected to rise by just 75 per cent, mainly due to an ageing population, while they are expected to double in North America. But the biggest increase is expected to be seen in North Africa and the Middle East, where cases are projected to rise by 375 per cent
