AI-Based 1-Minute Clinic For Busy Patients

Artificial intelligence (AI) is already in use in plenty of areas in our lives. But what if it could hasten, improve, or complement healthcare provision? Such a project is already in motion in China.

It’s called One-Minute Clinic and is the work of Ping An Good Doctor (PAGD). The company recruited healthcare professionals and authoritative medical organizations to provide one-stop healthcare consultations and health management services at various locations, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Nanjing Siqiao Expressway Service Area.

The technology of PAGD

There it will provide fast and convenient one-stop healthcare services to people that work and frequent those areas. The unmanned platform uses AI technology and integrates a variety of smart medical examination devices, in addition to connecting with more than 1,000 in-house medical professionals and almost 5,000 externally contracted doctors.

To be more precise, the system provides consultations, rehabilitation guidance, recommendations, and medicines. The latter includes over 100 common drug categories cryogenically stored for safety.

How does One-Minute Clinic work?

The central part of this platform is AI Doctor, developed by the R&D team consisting of more than 200 AI experts who gathered over 400 million consultation records.

A patient can walk up to the One-Minute Clinic where AI Doctor will collect information on their symptoms and medical history. After that, it will provide a preliminary diagnostic suggestion upon which a real experienced doctor will join in with additional recommendations and check the accuracy of the entire process.

This system would take a lot of burden off the country’s healthcare, as well as making the entire process faster and more convenient for the patients themselves. For instance, it makes it easier for patients to acquire urgent medical supplies or direct them to proper care.

The company expects to expand the coverage of public areas in China, launching portable clinics in malls, airports, and train stations.
