An example H. pylori was first discovered in the stomachs of patients with gastritis and ulcers in 1982 by Drs. Barry Marshall and Robin Warren of Perth, Western Australia. Even after the research was completed It took medicine nearly 20 years (which is considered no unreasonable- remember penecillin??? ) to adopt the standard treatments we have today. Its not so much about the knowledge but the acceptance and adaption of new ways of working. I for one am hoping it will be seen as a no brainer such as the oxymeter adaption in the 1990s.
