I disagree. It doesn't take long to learn the difference in cries and associated behaviours between needing milk, being tired, needing to burp or fart, vs being in pain from teething or something more serious.
Yes parents will love the assurance of an app, although my original point was that it's not as non-discretionary as people might think, given economic factors for many people.
