ASX Release
High Grade Intersections from Tasmania Lode - Gidgee Gold Project Face sampling values of up to 539g/t gold have been returned from initial stope development on the Tasmania lode system in the Swan Bitter underground mine at the Gidgee gold project, 90 kilometres north of Sandstone, WA.
The sampling confirms bonanza gold grades recorded from recent diamond drilling. Best intercepts were 10.00m @ 92.70g/t including 6m @ 151.86g/t, and 5.75m @ 41.92g/t including 1.15m @ 202.08g/t (Table 1).
Since January 2004, underground drilling has substantially expanded the size of the Tasmania lode system discovered by previous owners Abelle Ltd in 2002. The Tasmania system comprises multiple gold lodes whose full extents are not yet known, and grade control drilling to better define the mineralisation boundaries is now underway.
Legend Mining has continued underground development of the Tasmania access decline since taking over operations at Gidgee three months ago. One of the multiple lodes is now developed and mining of the first stope will begin immediately. Milling of the first parcel of stope ore is scheduled to commence within the next week.

Over 280,000 ounces of gold have been produced to date from the Swan Bitter-Butcherbird system to a depth of 305m below surface and gold production from underground has averaged more than 1,100 ounces per vertical metre.
Production records show the grade of ore has been increasing with depth and that during 2002-3 the mine produced at a rate of more than 1,200 ounces per vertical metre.
Legend is very encouraged by the extremely high gold grades encountered during development of the Tasmania lode system, which suggest the current trend of grade increasing with depth may be expected to continue below the existing workings.
