the problem with clive, is that he is appealing to a certain demographic - which are basically the bogans. just like the greens appeal to about 10% of the population (and watso used to think that they were worth voting for - and preferenced them ahead of the major parties ... likewise, palmer will appeal to bogans - ie those who could not give a hoot.

pickering had a good article the other day, about how people vote.

in a way, it is understandable why there are bogans who do not give a hoot, but will fall behind the likes of palmer - after all, politics is all about influence and money - and that goes for both the libs and labor.

oh well, the plebs have to vote.

watso recalls the old days of council elections, when potential voters were rounded up, and driven to the voting booth. the expectation off course, is that the potential voter would vote for the mob, who provided the transport.

ok - it did not happen to watso - but watso recalls his father being picked up for council elections.

gee, the system is good these days - even though tenants do not pay council rates (ie the landlord pays the council rates), they are allowed to vote. the argument being that tenants pay the landlord, who pays the rates, so that gives the tenants a say... damn it all, but what about the tenants who do not pay the rent
