A MAJOR reconciliation party is planned for the people of Panguna – to unite landowners, ex-combatants and key figures to the
Bougainville crisis.
This reconciliation will be held on December 25, a Christmas present for the people of Central Bougainville and the region as a
whole.
Central Bougainville MP Jimmy Miringtoro will spearhead the ceremony which is expected to pave the way for many positive things for
the region.
“This is the heart of the Bougainville crisis. This reconciliation will be between the key figures of the crisis, the Panguna
landowner, the ex-combatants and the leaders,” Mr Miringtoro said.
The Panguna Communiqué which will also be signed on that day.
“As the people celebrate Christmas, the Panguna landowners, ex-combatants and all stakeholders and key figures to the crisis and the
families who got tangled will embrace this,” Mr Miringtoro said.
“The Christmas period will be a very special treat for all in Panguna.
“We have to have a base somewhere. This Panguna Communique is in line with the reconciliation and this reconciliation ia aligned with
this piece of paper as a base.
“Reconciliation is an outstanding issue since ABG was formed and since 2008 was earmarked as the year of reconciliation.
“This will also go in line with the weapons disposal program and I will spearhead this reconciliation in Panguna with all the
churches on Bougainville Island.
“By the same token I will be calling on the National Government to make a strong commitment to the people of Bougainville because for
the past two years we have not seen any real commitment from the National Government and maybe that’s the reason why ABG sought help
offshore.
“We will need K600-K700 million not K57 million to jump-start Bougainville as we in the region helped develop PNG with the one single
mine for 15 years.”
