Missed your post I'm afraid @ArasiB - so a late reply, sorry.
You are looking hard into the future, and need justification for your investment in a small cap ASX exploration play. So the first thing I say is diversify.
That's because no one knows what the future may hold! New Disruptive Tech? The Anthropogenic Global Warming theory abandoned? Sodium EVs? GOLD crashes? A new Pandemic?
Not all of those will happen, but it is quite likely that at least one will - or something similar.
Hey there is an asteroid in temporary orbit of Earth atm, did you know? Don't worry, 'they' hope it will fly off in ~ two months.
The solution for us is to forget about possible major changes which we cant foresee, and have no control over anyway.
And on the market it is to diversify.
In the small cap commodities space:-
Have some Li,
Plenty of GOLD,
As much Cu as you can find,
Be bold and grab some near term Nb,
And some REE, if you understand the problems with extraction and processing ore, or avoid completely, -----
etc. - choose stuff you understand.
My own current approach is to avoid greenfields altogether (although I still hold 2 and will continue because of confidence in the people in charge, ~5% of total commitment) and I go for exploration/development plays.
That means the company has a proven discovery heading for development but still strong exploration value to add short term $ to M.Cap.
After all that waffle -
Am I happy with my investment in lithium? - yes! To confirm read about the huge dollars US Govt is investing in critical materials, including Li mining and processing, and battery plants.
Am I worried about instability of Li batteries? - will my grandkid's scooter blow up? - frankly yes! Low quality batteries are a disaster. It has been reported that the closure of two Li mines in China (not spodumene) was because of impurities which could not be removed, and which caused explosions.
However statistics show that more ICE vehicles catch fire than do EVs - think about that and the news flow which comes to mass media.
One reason I am very keen on Nb is that it can be used to 'seal' the anodes and stop dendrite growth.
Am I happy with my investment in PFE? - yes, it meets my criteria to the extent of one cookie from my cookie jar - but I wait for news of flow and concentration of Li Brine from the upcoming well test.
Will Na ions overtake Li ions? Definately NOT! -- Would an elephant fit into a lions cage? - size matters when the ions move from one side of the battery to find a hiding hole on the other side. Li+ is the smallest ion and is the key to battery tech. Only for large scale storage could cost play a part - we will see!!
I hope this gives you somethings to think about - I reply because many posters helped me in my early days, and still do - but this is NOT advice. You can not take more than general clues from an anonymous platform. DYOR and GL.
