Check out the scale on the right hand axis. The NY morning manipulation is half a point. As a percentage its a 0.06% movement! If the author put a one-standard-deviation band about the average I bet it would engulf the entire chart rendering it statistically meaningless.

That said Im sure banksters paint the charts all the time, which Stewart Thompson often talks about. But its rather like BOT trading on the ASX; you cant blame the bots if you bought a dog.

When I look at historical gold ratios versus the DOW, real interest rates, yield spreads etc... all the boring macroeconomic stuff... everything is progressing just fine. We can't expect the DOW:gold ratio to go from 40 to 1 overnight; it takes 15 years or so.
