Pentosan polysulphate injections for animals are currently in a multi-dose vial with a long shelf life that is stored in a fridge. It is given subcutaneously. Any nurse or pharmacist would be able to administer the drug to people rather than the requirement of the person to visit a doctor. Once a course has been dispensed, in theory nurses or pharmacists could administer. The drug is actually much safer to administer in a multi-dose pen than insulin which is life threatening when given in incorrect volumes
