It's very simple in my mind. Paul and the team don't have the competency within their ranks to do a deal - that's ok, but stop kidding yourself that you do.
Doing a deal takes a CR off the table and the relentless shorting subsides.
A very basic exercise like partnering with a BCG or KPMG with the intent of firming up the 'deal position' would go a great way to restoring confidence in the SP.
SP is simply confidence in future earnings. There is presently no confidence that Paul and his team can execute a deal under their current steam. Partner with someone who can help - slowly flying the plane into the ground is not the answer.
