You asked Is there any evidence about hereditary OA issues?
I have OA in both knees, had an ankle fusion because of OA in 2013, and am sure I have OA in my right shoulder too. My father, who I resemble greatly, has had two knee replacements , and several vertebrae fused because of OA. I am 58, he is 89.
I'm not sure that's 'evidence' but it's certainly 'anecdote'
(I too am a retired Rugby player - Second Row, always on the right in the scrum hence my right shoulder being the problematic one.
I was too slow for blindside flanker, and I could never get the hang of no 8 ....)
