A screen dump from another Prof Maley video. I've retyped some of the species names.
Ignoring the chart. If all things were equal, increasing body mass (it has more places to start) and increasing lifespan (it has more time to develop), both increase the chances of cancer.
Not Ignoring the chart. Why do mammals have the worst average at 26%? We rate the worst at any aged body mass but also: mammals regularly get very big and very old because somehow, our average cancer rate per aged body mass declines!
What has evolution been up to? Have to leave now but back tomorrow.
