If you can blot out the interviewer ... this is a good interview.

David Sabatini aka mTORman ... one of the two core pioneers. He is always thoughtful and considered:
9:10 "…we estimated that 80% of cancers have to find a way to turn on mTOR..."
(ie to turn on mTOR within their own cancer cells/tumour)

If that is so:
1/ from an evolutionary point of view, this is the large scale cancer cheat I've been looking for ... the big hack of the system, the hack of the mammalian advance
2/ 80%. Having listened to David many times, if he says 80% he means 80%. He will have sound reasoning for not choosing 70% or 90%. If I close my eyes and remove 80% from the high mammal neoplasia rate, (100%-80%) x 26 ... it drops it to 5.2% ...nearly all the way down to amphibians.
