The Paralana area is basically semi-desert and does not normally have a wet season. However that area, like the rest of Australia, has seen increasing extreme weather over the last few years so cant now rule out heavy rains in summer - Dont mention climate change or you will stir up the brownies.
As for timing, an update was promised early in the new year (2012), so guess just wait.
