Greenies howl me down, but I reckon extending the Sydney curfew by an hour either side would both spread the existing traffic and also allow for an extra 10-15% of traffic without any seemingly greater loads on the system at any particular time of the day/night - although there is obviously a bit more to this in terms of when the optimal departure times from overseas locations are.
I also live on a flight path (though not right next to the airport) and am pretty immune to aircraft noise, day or night.
Also, don't mind the longer term idea of a second airport at Canberra and a serious VFT with, say, one stop at Central and one at Parramatta.
Re the current curfew, one thing that always pains me is the "red-eye" from Perth to Sydney - having to wait till midnight in Perth before catching the flight to get into Sydney just after the 6am curfew lifts (granted, extending the curfew by an hour won't make a massive difference in this case).
