actually it is. the Hawke era resulted in celebration of multicultural Aus and built a much broader acceptance and enjoyment of being a part of the broader community. the street markets in the 90s were always very crowded with all backgrounds. then around a decade later there was an election to be won. since then its been downhill all the way.

but the roots do go deep into the goldrush years. many Chinese stayed even through the white Aus policy years. well I recall - is that right?
