A lot has been written about the Parklands geochem target since it was first announced late last year.
On Friday I went to an amateur concert at a place called Parkland Villas. Just a coincidence I wanted to work into a post....Good performance though I am biased by being the chauffeur for my other half.
I had been wondering about the unusually high soil results for Parklands. There is a post (by me) about it from earlier this year which I am too lazy to find.
Initial plan view
As @Onceover has commented the soil results are still pending announcement.
From memory RM commented that one reason the Wilki JV decided to go with a soil program was the apparent (at the time) success for Geo01 which could possibly apply to large areas of Wilki.
- shallow cover
- shallow ineffective early RAB and perhaps aircore
- presence of nearby mineralisation (eg Chicken Ranch)
- perhaps structural complexity or geophysical hints - my add ons.... perhaps.
- maybe others.
Probably noted it before but the use of lag sampling is dominant for the reported results.
How does Lag compare to ultra-fine soils as used at GEO01 and with the Paterson JV?
From memory the highest result at Geo01 was 76 ppb Au. This is highly anomalous in the data set and has been shown to reflect potential ore grade mineralisation at depth. Much less than the Lag samples at >1000 ppb Au.
I have never been involved with either Lag or Ultrafine geochem sampling so would appreciate some comments by others.
From the Jorc appendix to the Parkland's discovery announcement.
I looked for something similar to this for Geo01 and couldn't find it. That geochem was tucked away in the Q2 2022 announcement and quite difficult to locate.
In lieu of sampling details is this Jorc description of Ultrafines used on the Paterson farm in.
============
It would appear that comparing lag with ultrafines is a bit like apples and oranges. However, both have their place in geochem and can lead to locating mineralisation.
I suspect ultrafines would have found the Minyari deposit which basically outcrops. Lag sampling by WMC in the early 80's (A11035) along the 100500N line gave two consecutive samples at +3ppm Au. "NCM" dug up a bulk sample from the costean some 150m north of these high grade samples. Would expect geochem on that line might have been anomalous.
Getting 1980s locations onto Google Earth is a bit of a chore. The MHxxx series of holes are from AZY's 2016 compilation and can be cross referenced with this 1986 collar location map to get a reasonable idea of the grid in use at the time.
To grid west of the high grade lag samples are some lesser grade samples that sit proximal to what is now called Chicane.
100500N in thick yellow where lag sampling was done on 25m centers.
Blue dots announced holes phase 2 2024. White stars planned phase 2 but probably not drilled or even prepared.
light red lines rough vintage grid (some cyber issues over time with it plus very rough)
White outline surface projection of Minyari deposit (?vintage).
Subcrop in NE with some possible bedding trends.
Selected Lag results - rest below detection. Cu/As values correlate somewhat with Au.
==============
A single line of lag sampling could have lead to Minyari. Parkland lag are more widespread if somewhat lower so a very interesting target when combined with structure, multi element geochem at levels probably only dreamed about in the 1980s, geophysics, on strike of Chicken Ranch, shallow early drilling but none directly over this area (??).
Politics, legalities and ?? to decide what happens at Parklands.
GGP have been active to the SE in the middle of the Wilki Granite
===================
Min Geo01 area no obvious activity in last 5 days between Sentinel passes. RM did say they were closing down for the year within a week or so at the AGM
Maybe a dozen or so marginal planned sites not drilled. Some show no sign of site preparation.
