When I find myself in times of trouble, the weekly chart speaks to me.
The price goes down, then the price goes up.
Those who have bought at the bottom and sold at the top of the cycle now have an interest in fuelling fear and making the price go down again.
Once they have succeeded and topped up, then they have an interest in fuelling greed and making the price go up again.
The proportion of investors who have a rock solid belief in the company based on research is not high enough to prevent a fearful stampede once the price starts tumbling.
To hope that this process can be prevented by the onset of rational behavior is perhaps as fruitless as trying to stop the tides in the ocean.
