However they have quite the Everest to climb. Emerge are going to the market with a cloud game streaming solution which they're competing with the likes of Microsoft (xCloud), Valve (Steam Cloud Play) and Google (Stadia). Not to mention competing against AAA games that are already available on Google Play Store and Apple AppStore.

Conceptually and technically, Emerge is not doing anything new here apart from they see competition and prizes as a value add. They are chasing countries that may not have access to services that the big three offer. Economically, technically and politically there would be reasons why Microsoft, Valve and Google aren't chasing these countries: The cost to run is too high/profit margin is too low to be worthwhile, users don't necessarily have the bandwidth available to access the servers effectively and their governments might not allow the calibre of games due to censorship/rating system.

Pretend for a moment that Emerge got Fortnite on their service. Microsoft already has Fortnite available on Xbox, given that Microsoft would be keen to profit from xCloud or Xbox Live, there is no incentive for Microsoft to negotiate with Emerge. If Microsoft wanted to bring Fortnite to South Africa, they'd have their own means to do so.

Now Emerge can argue that they're offering tournaments/prizes/competition, but I really don't see that value add is enough to entice publishers into their corner. I'm happy to be wrong but I think publishers only care about how they can get their games on as many devices and how they can sell additional content through microtransactions.

This is by no means a downramp, I'm simply offering a perspective built from decades of technical and gaming evangelism while wrapping my head around what Emerge is doing in this space.

I agree and this is why i regrettably sold out a few months back, the games look very low quality. Any kid knows how to find games like this on google for free.
I originally bought in because they had images of decent titles that i knew like PUBG, fortnite etc, but then i saw them on the SA news playing some 2 minute side scroller.
Its a great idea, but until they get better titles and legit signups (not just made up preregistered numbers), ill be watching from the sidelines
