This is what happened to another Bulla tip operator 3 years ago -
those EPA drones can be a real nuisance for some operators that don't do the right thing
I wonder what would happen if PASS wasn't treated in a compliant manner
Environment Protection Authority uses drone to detect business breaching its licence

A DRONE has helped Environment Protection Authority Victoria catch a Bulla landfill operator in the act of breaching its licence.
The EPA has issued the B.T.Q Group with a fine of more than $7000 after a drone, which was being used as part of a landfill compliance surveillance program, captured images and video footage of “extensive areas of exposed waste” at the business.
The EPA’s metro manager Daniel Hunt said the drone had taken the photographs on January 17.
Mr Hunt said that under its licence, the B.T.Q Group was required to put at least 30cm of soil on the exposed waste at its site every day.
But he said that the drone had revealed the company was not sufficiently performing this task.
“The footage captured clearly shows multiple operational areas on the premises with visible waste such as plastic, concrete, steel and wood, that indicates that it has not been adequately covered at the end of operations for the day as required under its EPA licence,” Mr Hunt said.
Mr Hunt said it was important for soil to be applied to waste material every day, to reduce odour, vermin, contaminated stormwater and litter.
“This breach of the company’s EPA licence was avoidable,” he said.
“B.T.Q Group is well aware of its licence obligations, and in this case correct management and monitoring of exposed litter would have avoided the fine being handed down.”
Mr Hunt said EPA had also served the B.T.Q Group with an official warning in January when it allowed dust to leave its premises, in another breach of its EPA licence requirements.
The EPA has urged members of the public to continue report suspected pollution HERE or on 1300 372 842 (1300 EPA VIC).
