Hi All, I must have done something wrong in a past life, but the current experience with SMN is very reminiscent to past experience with Cellestis.
Cellestis had a new test for TB, and had to jump through the FDA regulatory hurdles. The process took about 10 years, but was ultimately granted & to things were looking good. Some concerns were raised about patent life & the company was taken over by a foreign concern. Last time I looked, the TB test was turning over $100m+ (sour grapes - you bet!)
Not saying SMN will ultimately be the same, but when dealing with Regulator & intrenched practices, the wheels turn slowly. I don’t think there is an underlying conspiracy to hold Australian companies back, or delay until patents expire or because of the activities of past management. I suspect no one wants to fast track & then have an incident of any description on their record/conscience. Yes, the road is long, with many a winding turn, and while there are no guarantees in life, I’m personally not losing sleep & appreciate the updated (forecast) timetable.
