Regarding the patents, technically, that's right, However, my understanding is that AVX (as do many other companies) expect to gain further patent protection based on composition of matter, and also in regards to broadening the use (ie for specific use in children). There are also patents for manufacturing protection which run out until 2027 (this is how Pharmaxis is able to patent their drug Bronchitol, which is essentially just a mannitol sugar). These have not been significant issues in discussions with prospective partners, who would obviously have been very careful about such matters.
