NEAROLOGY

Perhaps a basic human trait with relationship to desire and greed among other things.  Contentious issues that are open to broad discussions.

Someone/some company finds something and others flock to try and get a piece of the action or more of it. 

In mineral exploration terms some famous examples:

• Cecil Rhodes and DeBeers for diamonds

• The gold rushes of the 49 ers, Victoria a few years later, the Klondike and Kalgoorlie....

• The WA nickel boom
• Recent staking rushes in the Pilbara (conglomerate gold) and the Paterson Province post Rio activity.

Thinking back on it somewhat Antipa were in the Paterson Province very early based on the Nearology concept and came up with a new discovery at Calibre in 2012.

Enter the next nearology candidate, Rio, in late 2015 who through their exploration effort on ground adjacent to Citadel came up with something 6 Kms outside the JV ground.  They staked as much ground near to Winu - basically Nearology in a near classic case of a staking rush. 

A lot easier these days with on line graticular applications than back in the Nickel Boom when claims had to be physically pegged with trenches of exact proportions manually dug to mark out the ground.  

Greatland Gold, Sipa (SRI) and perhaps a few others joined the nearology play before the 7 December 2017 Rio staking spree led to most of the Paterson Province being staked.

Greatlands drill successes at Havieron have added a huge impetus to the Nearology aspects of the Paterson province which will IMO take several years to unfold.   As many have commented being near is not good enough for long term benefit. 

Having a Tier 1 discovery announced by Rio at Winu though does IMO have major implications for the Citadel JV where the existing Calibre and Magnum resources are probably stranded at the moment by location, low grade and apparently too small for stand alone mines.

The geology post above shows the potential that exists in the Paterson Province so whatever Nearology means in this context there is going to be a lot of exploration and possibly corporate activities this year and hopefully into the future.
