I am no oil expert either but I don't think this mind set is correct. The flow rate is subject to many variables, and pump size is not one of them. I'm sure the company could be more than happy to bring 9 more pumps and do 6000 barrels a day, if the math is that simple. When the oil content increases, other factors like pressure or fluid viscosity may change, hence the number of "600 barrels" will not hold.
